Indian Bank celebrates 120th Foundation Day with a series of community initiatives

Indian Bank has reached a massive milestone by celebrating its 120th year of operations. The public sector lender marked the occasion with new branches and social welfare programs across India.

Indian Bank has reached a historic milestone by celebrating its 120th Foundation Day. This major event was held alongside India's 80th Independence Day celebrations. The bank used this special occasion to show its long-term commitment to nation-building and financial inclusion (bringing banking services to everyone). The celebrations involved top leadership, staff members, and their families across the country.

Binod Kumar, the MD and CEO of Indian Bank, addressed the gathering during the event. He highlighted that the bank has been a key part of India’s economic growth for over a century. He stated that the bank is fully committed to the vision of 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India). The goal is to make the bank more inclusive and prosperous for all citizens as it enters its next phase of growth.

As part of the celebrations, the bank focused heavily on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). They donated two-wheelers to the CanCare Foundation in Chennai to help cancer patients receive palliative care (medical care for serious illnesses). They also provided hearing aids and prostheses (artificial body parts) to beneficiaries of the Akshaya Trust. This shows that the bank is looking beyond just profits to help the weaker sections of society.

The bank also supported the sports community during this event. They donated an e-bike to a national-level para powerlifting bronze medalist. This gift was intended to help her with mobility and support her training for future sporting events. Such moves help build the bank’s brand image as a socially responsible institution among the public.

On the business side, MD and CEO Binod Kumar virtually inaugurated 15 new branches across India. Opening new branches is a key step in taking customer-centric banking closer to people in different regions. In addition to physical branches, the bank launched several new digital products. These digital tools are designed to make banking faster and easier for modern customers who prefer using mobile apps and online portals.

For Indian bankers and aspirants, this news is very significant. It shows the stability and strength of a legacy public sector bank (PSB). When a bank turns 120, it proves it can survive different economic cycles. For employees, such milestones usually bring a sense of pride and a focus on expanding the customer base through both digital and physical channels.

Top officials including Executive Directors Ashutosh Choudhury, Shiv Bajrang Singh, and Mini T.M. were present at the event. Their presence signals a unified leadership vision for the bank's future. The bank plans to continue its focus on inclusive growth, which means more opportunities for staff to work on government schemes and rural banking projects.

Looking ahead, Indian Bank is expected to push harder on its digital journey. Customers can expect more tech-friendly features in the coming months. Aspirants looking to join the bank should note its focus on social welfare and digital expansion, as these are key areas discussed in modern banking interviews and exams.
