The Board of Directors of private sector lender Federal Bank has announced the appointment of Rajesh Varrier, President- Global Operations and Chairman and MD of Cognizant India as an Additional Director (Non – Executive Independent Director).

A tech industry veteran, Varrier has previously served as the EVP, Head of Global Services at Infosys Americas as well as Global Head of Infosys’ Digital and Microsoft businesses and the CIO and Digital Officer for Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance.

He also serves as a member of the NASSCOM executive council and a member of the board of directors of Cognizant Foundation India. Varrier holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a postgraduate degree in computer engineering from the University of Mumbai.

His appointment to Federal Bank’s board is subject to shareholder approval.

Shares of Federal bank closed at ₹335.80 on Friday, up, 0.24% or ₹0.80.
