Karnataka Bank launches ‘KBL Finsurance’ platform
Karnataka Bank has introduced a new digital portal to manage its insurance sales and lead tracking. This platform aims to simplify the bancassurance process for staff and customers across India.
Karnataka Bank has launched a new digital platform called 'KBL Finsurance'. This portal is designed to help bank branches manage their insurance business more easily. It allows staff to create, track, and monitor insurance leads (potential customers) through a single digital system. The project is powered by SprintMoney, a fintech company that provides digital tools to banks. This move is part of the bank's larger goal to use technology to improve how it serves its customers.
The new KBL Finsurance portal gives branch staff real-time powers. Employees can now generate leads and check the status of policies immediately. They can also access MIS reports (Management Information System, which are reports used to track business performance) to see how much insurance they have sold. This removes the need for manual tracking and helps the bank understand its sales data better. By using this tool, the bank hopes to make its daily operations much faster and more accurate.
To make this work, Karnataka Bank partnered with SprintMoney, also known as Wildflower Business Services Pvt Ltd. SprintMoney has integrated the bank's systems with various insurance companies. This integration means that when a bank officer enters data into the portal, it talks directly to the insurance partner's system. This 'white-labelled' solution (a product made by one company that another company rebrands) helps the bank offer a smooth experience without building the tech from scratch.
The Managing Director and CEO of Karnataka Bank, Raghavendra S Bhat, stated that this launch is a big step in the bank's digital journey. He mentioned that the bank wants to provide all financial solutions under one roof. By automating bancassurance (selling insurance products through a bank), the bank can improve its service efficiency. This helps the bank deepen its relationship with customers who need both banking and insurance services in one place.
Amit Kumar, the Founder of SprintMoney, highlighted that the portal uses intelligent automated workflows. These workflows are step-by-step digital processes that guide staff through the sale. He believes the portal will become a key growth engine for the bank's insurance business. The technology is focused on improving governance (following rules) and business performance while making the work simpler for the employees on the ground.
For bank officers and aspirants, this news is important because it shows how roles are changing. General Manager Raghuram HS noted that the platform will enhance productivity and simplify the entire business lifecycle. Bankers will now spend less time on paperwork and more time on customer service. As Karnataka Bank pushes for sustainable growth, staff will need to become comfortable using these real-time digital insights to meet their targets.
Customers will also benefit from this change. With better tracking, they can get updates on their policy status much faster. The bank aims to provide a seamless experience where insurance is integrated into the regular banking visit. As the industry watches, this move by Karnataka Bank shows how traditional banks are using fintech partnerships to stay competitive against digital-only rivals.
Looking ahead, observers should watch how this impacts the bank's non-interest income. Increasing insurance sales is a key way for Indian banks to boost profits. If KBL Finsurance is successful, it may serve as a model for other mid-sized banks in India to upgrade their digital sales tools. The focus will remain on how well branch staff adapt to this new automated way of working.
