Digital lending platform Fibe to raise ₹750 cr

A major digital lending platform is set to raise significant capital to boost its operations. This move focuses on using advanced technology to change how loans are approved and managed.

Fibe, a well-known digital consumer financing company, plans to raise ₹750 crore. This money will be used mainly to strengthen its lending subsidiary and for general corporate needs. The company wants to build a larger digital lending platform by improving its technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. This is an important update for bank officers as fintech rivals are now using heavy technology to grab market share.

The firm has shown very fast growth. Its Assets Under Management (AUM - the total market value of loans a company handles) grew by 45 per cent annually. It went from ₹4,064 crore in March 2024 to ₹8,603 crore by March 2026. This shows that digital lending is becoming very popular among Indian customers who want quick credit. More importantly, the company's profit jumped to ₹257 crore in FY26, up from ₹114 crore the year before.

Fibe is focusing heavily on AI and Machine Learning (ML - computers learning from data). They plan to use AI for talking to customers, checking for risks, and making credit decisions. It will also help manage their loan portfolio and make their employees more productive. For bank aspirants, this highlights how the banking job is changing from manual paperwork to managing automated systems.

One interesting tool they use is 'Fibe Mind.' This system allows the management to see business trends and data in real-time. This helps them make decisions faster than traditional banks. They also have an AI engineering agent that helps their tech team write code and test software. This high level of automation allows them to handle a huge number of customers with less manual effort.

In the financial year 2026, the company's system processed about 1.31 million loan applications every month. This resulted in fresh loans worth ₹7,614 crore being given out. The platform dealt with 15.74 million unique applicants during that year. Out of these, 2.02 million applicants were approved through their automated credit assessment process. This scale of operations is massive compared to many traditional bank branches.

When a customer applies for a loan, the AI looks at many details. This includes income, where they live, where they work, and demographic info. Fibe uses a 'proprietary scorecard' (their own secret formula) to check credit bureau data and behavioral indicators. This means they don't just look at a CIBIL score; they look at how the customer behaves online to decide if they are trustworthy.

For bankers in India, this news shows that competition is no longer just from other banks. Digital lenders are using technology to process loans much faster than a standard branch. Bank officers need to be aware that speed and AI-driven decisions are becoming the new standard in the industry. As Fibe raises more funds, their ability to compete for retail customers will only increase.

In the coming months, we should watch how other fintech firms react to this fundraise. If Fibe successfully integrates more AI, it might force traditional banks to speed up their own digital transformation. For now, the ₹750 crore capital injection will help Fibe expand its reach across India through its mobile app and web interface, making it a major player to track.
